|10.10.07 - Ultimate Tamale Bet on National League Championship|
WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Reps. Ed Pastor, D-Ariz., and Diana DeGette, D-Colo., today made a friendly wager of hometown tamales on the outcome of the National League Championship Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies. Both willing to bet hometown tamales, Phoenix's El Portal Restaurant tamales and 8th Street Ale from Arizona's Four Peaks brewery are at stake for Pastor while DeGette will pony up Denver's La Casita Tamales and Great Divide Beer.
"Since 2001 when the Diamondbacks won the World Series, they have a national legacy as champions," Pastor said. "I fully expect them to take this series all the way. I'm looking forward to the taste of Denver's tamales and beer."
"All eyes are on the Rockies as they ride their momentum into the next round of playoffs," said DeGette. "As they did during the Division race, the Rockies will surge past the Diamondbacks and represent Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West with pride in the World Series."
If the Arizona Diamondbacks come out ahead, DeGette will deliver Colorado's famous tamales and beer to Pastor's office. Similarly, if the Colorado Rockies prevail, Pastor will provide tamales and beer to DeGette and her staff.
