U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

The Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services is charged with processing immigrant visa petitions, naturalization petitions, and asylum and refugee applications, as well as making adjudicative decisions performed at the service centers, and managing all other immigration benefits functions (i.e., not immigration enforcement) performed by the former Immigration and Naturalization Service. Other responsibilities include:

  • Administration of immigration services and benefits
  • Adjudicating asylum claims
  • Issuing employment authorization documents (EAD)
  • Granting lawful permanent resident status
  • Granting citizenship

They are open to the public between the hours of 7:00 AM and 1:30 PM Monday through Friday.  The office is closed on Saturday and Sunday, and on all Federal holidays.
